Listing Multiples

Introduction

Terms

Multiple - A number multiplied by any other whole number (like 1, 2, 3, 4 …)
Whole Number - A whole number is a number with nothing but zeroes after the decimal point (5.0) or with no decimal point at all (5).

Lesson

A multiple of a number is simply that number multiplied by any other whole number. It’s easier if we think of it as the multiplication table for that number. So if we are asked to list the first five multiples of 7, we could first write out the multiplication table for 7:

1 x 7 = 7

2 x 7 = 14

3 x 7 = 21

4 x 7 = 28

5 x 7 = 35

Therefore, the first five multiples of 7 would be 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35.

Examples

Listing Multiples (Example #1)

List the first 44 multiples of 66
16=61 * 6 = 6
26=122 * 6 = 12
36=183 * 6 = 18
46=244 * 6 = 24

Listing Multiples (Example #2)

List the first 33 multiples of 55
15=51 * 5 = 5
25=102 * 5 = 10
35=153 * 5 = 15

Listing Multiples (Example #3)

List the first 66 multiples of 99
19=91 * 9 = 9
29=182 * 9 = 18
39=273 * 9 = 27
49=364 * 9 = 36
59=455 * 9 = 45
69=546 * 9 = 54

Listing Multiples (Example #4)

List the first 44 multiples of 1616
116=161 * 16 = 16
216=322 * 16 = 32
316=483 * 16 = 48
416=644 * 16 = 64
